In 2019, 4.8 billion people received SMS messages alerting them to all sorts of services -- including online authentication and package deliveries -- powered by technology developed by Infobip, a European "unicorn" company founded by Silvio Kuti? in Vodnjan, Croatia, in 2006. Part of the fast-growing communications-platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) sector, Infobip now has 67 offices around the world. Kuti?, who is working on the next generation of artificial intelligence-based communications applications, expects voice-based interfaces to power the coming generation of mobile apps.
