The standard of a good Quantified Vision™

A Global Advisors Quantified Vision™ is successful when it meets twenty tests.

Exhibit 26

The Quantified Vision™ quality tests

Test Question
Customer test Does the vision define the business around a durable customer need?
Core test Does it build from a precise understanding of the economic core?
Advantage test Does it explain why the organisation can win?
Strategic intent test Does it create stretch without losing credibility?
Core competence test Does it identify the capabilities that must be protected, built or extended?
Disruption test Does it identify technologies or business models that could disrupt the core?
AI test Does it distinguish between AI as productivity tool, product enhancer, business-model disruptor and reinvention platform?
Self-disruption test Does it ask where the organisation may need to cannibalise or redesign itself?
Growth pathway test Does it clarify whether growth comes from intensification, extension, migration, reinvention or options?
Ansoff test Does it clarify the growth route: penetration, market development, product development or diversification?
Porter test Does it set up clear analysis of industry attractiveness, competitive position, value-chain design and trade-offs?
Evidence test Is it grounded in facts, not assertion?
Choice test Does it make real trade-offs?
Uncertainty test Does it classify and manage uncertainty explicitly?
Commitment test Does it define what to do now, later, conditionally or never?
Capability test Does it identify what must be built, bought, borrowed or stopped?
Economic test Does it link to value creation and resource allocation?
Scenario test Does it remain robust under plausible futures?
Mobilisation test Can it be translated into initiatives, metrics and governance?
Renewal test Can it adapt as signposts change?

Practitioner note

If the proposed vision fails one of these tests, do not fix the wording. Fix the strategy logic.

Part Twenty Four

Summary

Global Advisors Quantified Vision™ is a proprietary approach for building enterprise vision with strategic discipline. It begins by challenging how the business is defined. It then grounds the future in customer needs, the economic core, strategic intent, core competence, disruptive technology exposure, AI impact, quantified evidence, capabilities, uncertainty and strategic choices. It uses scenarios to test robustness, not to avoid decisions. It converts ambition into a portfolio of no-regrets moves, big bets, real options, hedges, insurance moves and exits. It creates a deliberate bridge to the strategy that follows, linking the vision to growth pathways, Ansoff choices, competitive position, industry structure, value-chain design, activity-system fit, capability development and operating model change. It then translates the final vision into governing objectives, investment priorities, initiatives, scorecards, signposts, leadership routines and mobilisation. The method avoids six classic failures:

  1. Product myopia.
  2. Core abandonment.
  3. Adjacency drift.
  4. Disruption blindness.
  5. Strategy disconnect.
  6. Vision theatre.

The result is a vision that is customer-grounded, core-led, disruption-aware, uncertainty-adjusted, strategically connected, economically quantified and execution-ready. Quantified Vision™ helps leadership teams see further, choose better and mobilise with discipline.
