Last year's NSFAS policy change - which saw the learning material and textbook allowance previously paid to students in the form of vouchers, now being distributed as a cashable allowance - resulted in a major drop in textbook sales across university campuses. It's had a devastating impact on small booksellers, says Mohamed Kharwa.
